Interview
SpiceProp

We are thrilled to present an interview with Sergey Harutyunyan, one of our talented traders who has successfully conquered the challenging SpiceProp 50k Chili Pepper program. Sergey shares his approach to the markets, demonstrating that the key to long-term success is not chasing quick profits, but rather iron discipline and strict risk management. Enjoy the read!

Why do you like to trade with SpiceProp?

I appreciate SpiceProp for its flexible evaluation rules with no strict time pressure, a high profit split (up to 90% on some programs), and access to larger simulated funded accounts.

What was the most important thing that helped you pass the SpiceProp challenge, specifically the 50k Chili Pepper program?

Without a doubt, proper risk management.

What was the key moment in your career as a trader?

A key moment in my trading journey was learning the importance of discipline, risk management, and consistency instead of focusing only on profits.

How long have you been trading?

For 5 years.

What is your trading plan?

My trading plan is based on disciplined risk management, clear entry and exit rules, and maintaining consistency over the long term.

What quality of your character helps you succeed in the SpiceProp challenge (in three words)?

Discipline, patience, consistency.

What separates the average traders from the best?

Discipline, consistency, and emotional control are what usually separate average traders from the best traders.

Can you tell us about the best piece of advice that has brought you good results in the SpiceProp challenge?

The best advice was to focus on risk management and consistency instead of trying to make profits too quickly.

Could you share with our SpiceProp Trader community any books, online resources, or people that were significant in your trading development?

Some resources that have been helpful in my trading development include market psychology books, risk management content, trading journals, and educational videos focused on discipline and consistency. Following experienced traders and staying connected with trading communities can also provide valuable insights and different market perspectives.

Should we learn from ourselves or from others?

Both are important. Learning from others can help avoid common mistakes, while learning from your own experience helps build discipline, confidence, and consistency.

What does your ‘ideal setup’ look like? Describe the three key conditions that must be met for you to open a position.

My ideal setup is based on clear market structure, confirmation from volume or momentum, and a favorable risk-to-reward ratio. Before opening a position, I look for trend alignment, a strong entry signal, and proper risk management conditions.

Do you have a morning ritual or pre-session routine that helps you get into the right frame of mind?

Before trading, I usually review the market conditions, check important news events, and prepare key levels for the session. Having a calm and focused routine helps maintain discipline and consistency during trading.

What hobby, apart from trading, helps you clear your head most effectively after a tough day on the market?

Apart from trading, I enjoy spending time with family, staying active, and occasionally disconnecting from screens to reset mentally after a challenging day in the markets.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Sergey for taking the time to share his valuable insights and practical trading advice. We are incredibly proud to have traders of his caliber as part of the SpiceProp community. Sergey, congratulations on successfully completing the 50k Chili Pepper challenge, and we wish you continued success and many green days ahead!
